Pioneer Trek

Tyson and I had the opportunity to join the youth on their Pioneer Trek as their Ma and Pa, last weekend. We had nine kids, 5 girls and 4 boys. We pulled, and pushed our handcart up and down mountains (really, really big hills). We were gone 3 days and 2 nights, it was a blast! Very tiring, yet a lot of fun. I know have a new found respect for the Mormon pioneers and all they suffered and went through. We covered somewhere between 7 to 10 miles of rocky steep hillish mountains. The pioneers did around 1300 miles, and 6 out of every 7 women lost a baby our child. Along the path, there were pioneers that told their story, it was amazing what these people went though and the faith they had. I loved our family, we had such a great time together and really got to know one another. The youth today just amazing me how spiritually strong they are, they are truly saved for these last days. Here are some pictures throughout this past weekend.
Troy, Tyler, Taylor, Tyson, Autumn, Aubrie, Catherine, Josh, Rebekah, Kaitlyn, and Mckenna.
The boys. We couldn't have done it with our them.
The girls.
One out of the 2 flat spots, and yes we hiked those mountains ahead.

Taking a break, listening to a Pioneer tell her story of her lost son.
Our family ready to start the 2nd day of our journey.
Brigham Young, aka (Brother Ford)
The girls ready to do the hike on our own while the boys are gone.
Off the boys go in the Mormon Battalion.
The women watched the men hike up the mountain, then the men had to watch while us women had to pull the handcarts up this nasty mountain. We sure missed our men while they were gone at war.
The girls, after we pulled 25 handcarts up the mountain.
They boys reunite with us, yeah!!!
