Boys' Valentine Cards

This one was a fun one for the boys. We made a slit at the tops of their light sabers and slid a glow stick through. They thought they were pretty cool.

Afternoon Project

It's been awhile since I've done a craft with the boys, so this afternoon we decided to make some slime. Hunter did the majority of the stirring, but Wyatt had to do some stirring of the ingredients too. It entertained Wyatt for quite awhile. The cool part is the blue slime we added glow in the dark paint, so the blue one glows (Hunter thought that was pretty neat).

Wyatt's Car Seat Cooler

Wyatt doesn't like to get in his car seat and buckle up because all the metal and plastic pieces get really hot. So yesterday I made him a car seat cooler. It hold 5 plastic ice blocks. So a couple minutes before we leave I place this in his car seat, and then where ever we go I just put it in his seat when we get out of the car so all the buckles don't get hot. It's probably the worst sewing job I've done, since I didn't measure anything and just eyeballed the whole thing, but hay, it's for a car seat. and will spend most of it's time in my freezer.

It has 5 pockests, one for each I block.

Lastest Crafts

There were a few crafts that I wanted to get done before Dustin was born. I finally finished them, with a couple days to spare. The 4th of July ones I should have done a couple months ago, but I didn't want to put the wood away unfinished. So I did a real quick job of just paint and glitter on all the 4th of July ones, so I can store them away. Most of them are duplicates that I made myself (the other sets I gave to my mom and grandma), I needed some of my own 4th of July decorations.
I really wanted to get this one done in time for the boys to use for their birthdays coming up.

Been wanting one of these for a long time. I copied the one that my sister had made.

Super Hero Capes

For Wyatt's birthday this year he wants a super hero party. There are a other little boys in his primary class that he wants to come, so I made each boy, including Wyatt a super hero cape. Wyatt of course wants the spiderman (which did not turn out very well, I should have cut out a stencile for the spider). Then there is a Superman, Batman, and Captain America cape for the other boys to choose from. They turned out cute, but I DO NOT like sewing that silky material.

Baptism Towel

I wanted to make Hunter a baptism towel since he is turning 8 this August and will be getting baptized this year. I know though once the kids are out of school (Wyatt 1 more week and Hunter 2 more weeks) I will not be getting much done, and with the baby due at the end of July I really won't be getting anything done. So I figured that I should make this now. The coolest part of all was that I used my cricut to cut out the fabric, it was so Awesome!!!! I love the poem that goes with the towel:

My Baptism Towel

This baptism towel is to help remind you

Of your baptism day all the years through.

When you come out of the water all clean and pure,

Dry off with this towel and you can be sure,

That you are as clean as this towel is white.

And the Holy Ghost will be with you both day and night.

For the Holy Ghost is your gift after the laying on of hands,

And will be a comfort and a guide if you obey God's commands.

This CTR emblem will help remind you to be strong

As you continue to learn right from wrong.

When your towel becomes soiled, remember that we, too,

May sometimes make mistakes and we've been taught just what to do.

Just as you can wash your towel so it can again be clean,

The wrongs you make can be washed away and never again be seen.

Your Heavenly Father loves you, remember always to pray,

And He will be beside you for forever and a day. "

Crib Bedding

Last weekend Tyson took the boys on a father son's camp out, and while they were gone I was able to finish making the crib bedding! I think my favorite part is the crib skirt, it took me forever to find the right color of material to match the bumper pad and blanket color scheme. I love the fact that I can look at this crib and say I made all the bedding, even the fitted crib sheet. I used an old bumper pad the the DI and made a cover for it. The brown minky and soft cuddly fabric is from Joann's, and the fun swilrly, glittery print fabric is from Walmart. The crib sheet, and white ruffles on the skirt is a white sheet from the DI, and the other 2 fabrics on the crib skit is from Walmart. I estimated the cost off all the supplies used to make it all is about 30 to 35 dollars. And yesterday I made a little taggie lovey blanket just for fun.

Latest Sewing Projects

I have been in a sewing mood and am almost out of different things to sew to get ready for baby number 3. These are my projects I have done this past week: a hooter hider, nursing strap clips, burp cloths, a big baby blanket, and a diaper clutch,
A hooter hider for nursing
clip onto any blanket for a nursing cover
One side of the burp cloths
The other side of the burp cloths

Snuggle blanket
The back side of so soft, I love it, I know baby 3 will too.
Diaper and wipe clutch
The inside is lined with the polka dot material, It can hold about 3 diapers and a small package of wipes.

Car Seat Blanket

I had to make a matching car seat blanket to cover and protect baby boy #3 from weather and even more important, to keep people and their germs away from him. When I made the blanket with the brown minky trim around the edges it really makes me even more so want to make bedding out of this material.

Car Seat Project

So this was my latest project that took me 2 days. I started with the original car seat cover and stitched the whole thing, including the batting from the material. I took the material pieces and used them as a pattern and traced them on the fabric I wanted to use. I then sewed the original batting to the new fabric pieces. Then I sewed all the pieces back together again (like humpty dumpty). The bias tape was the hardest part for me, I have never used it before. The other hard part was making button holes, I've never done that either and let's just say the sewing machine I am using is so old that it is mustard yellow and I could barely get it to do a zig zag. The canopy was a challenge but turned out great. I then made matching shoulder pads that are reversible. I've spent about $28 in all the supplies and still have tons of material left over so I am now making a car seat blanket. I'll post that next. I love this material and I love how it turned out.

Father's Day Banner

Got this one done early. I laminated the ties so they wouldn't rip (that's why it looks a little shiny).
